  • About Human Interest
  • Human Interest is an affordable, full-service 401(k) and 403(b) provider that makes it easy for small and medium-sized businesses to help their employees save for retirement.

  • Project Background
  • This illustration accompanies a blog post about retirement plans for non-profit organizations. One example non-profit organization includes public school systems which historically have been taken advantage of by certain legacy providers.

  • Challenge
  • Human Interest's articles (about investing, retirement, and 401(k) and 403(b)s) featured stock imagery that was ubiquitous with every other article appearing on search engines or from competitors. There's an opportunity for a more unique graphic that supports and promotes Human Interest's article.

  • Solution
  • An illustration instead of stock imagery provides more creative options for a unique graphic. Colors and shapes used in this illustration are from the logomark as well, making this visually cohesive with Human Interest's specific brand.

  • My Role
  • After reading the content, I sketched several options. The final direction I chose fit three goals–it featured a person, the environment could be illustrated using shapes from Human Interest's logomark, and the depicted scene reflected content found towards the beginning of the article. With this direction, I explored multiple colorways, backgrounds, and textures to get to the final version.
